RCBS Ultrasonic Case Cleaner Review
What stands out first about the RCBS Ultrasonic Case Cleaner is the three color LED display. It is very easy to read and the controls are also very simple to use. The display is very large and provides tons of information about your cycles. This includes the timer display, temperature display, solution timer countdown, de-gas status, heater status, other indication lights. The timer that can be set from 1 minute to 30 minutes, and it allows users to choose from five different temperature settings. The temperature can be set to Celsius or Fahrenheit depending on what you prefer, which is something we haven’t seen on other cleaners.
This case cleaner does what it is intended to do. It cleans brass inside and out as well as primer pockets. But we still go ahead and tumble are cases when they are finished just to get that nice shine. The instruction manual claimed that using regular tap water is okay with this product, However, they warn that tap water may contain minerals or solids that may cause spots on the surfaces of your items.
Another stand out feature is the de-gassing function. There are two things important things that will hinder the effectiveness of sonic cleaners. Solution if it hasn’t dissolved correctly and water bubbles that have formed on the walls of the cleaner. The de-gas function will help dissipate the bubbles and droplets that have not dissolved into the water. This process takes 2 minutes, which RCBS claims is enough time to get rid of the droplets and bubbles. We also like the size of this cleaner. It sports a 3 litre tank which is great for reloading benches and workshops without taking up much room like the bulkier ultrasonic machines do.
The drain valve as very convenient. This is something that everyone in the market for an ultrasonic cleaner should consider. If you haven’t use an ultrasonic gun cleaner before, it can get very messy trying to remove the solution from your cleaner after use. Even pouring solution out may cause it to leak on to the sides of your cleaner or even the electronics. This is definitely a plus for this product. We still don’t know why other manufacturers have not implemented drains into their cleaners. They’re simple extremely essential. I mean, they’re in the business of cleaning and maintenance and they aren’t even making it easy for consumers to clean their own product. Good grief. We expect other companies to follow in the footsteps RCBS in the near future.
Overall we highly recommend the RCBS Ultrasonic Cleaner whether you are new to ultrasonics or not. This product has a larger tank then others in its category and has better and easier to use features. The signature green doesn’t hurt either, especially in an industry fill of neutral colors and metals. Kudos to the RCBS team for designing such a great product.
