Since then, the Lock N Load cleaner has gone through its changes, and newer models have been developed. But we wouldn’t be a great review site, if we only reviewed the most current models on the market today.

If you are looking to try your hand at ultrasonic cleaning at the cheapest price possible, than the Hornady Lock N Load Sonic Cleaner is definitely the cleaner you should consider purchasing. It is no surprise that the lower price is due to it being an older model, but don’t let that fact count this cleaner out, as it will still get the job done! This small but effective cleaner will breakdown residue and other foreign material from your case and primer pockets.
What this gun cleaner has going for it is the fact that it is super easy to use, and does provide the best value for your money. It probably wont out-clean the newer models available on the market, but it still beats cleaning your cases in a tumbler! (It will clean the inside of your cases and save you time). Also, the guys at Hornady have received the reputation as having one of the best cleaning solutions in the industry, and we wouldn’t recommend using any other cleaner with this unit.
Consumers should note however, that this puppy is small! We mean REALLY small. Don’t listen to any of the advertisements claiming that it can clean up to 200 .223-Reminton cases or up to 100 .308 Winchester cases in one go. Maybe it’s possible (if you stack them very carefully), but you wouldn’t want to put that many in at one time anyways. The effectiveness of ultrasonic cleaning is lost with more items being cleaned at any one time. It is really meant to clean these cases, and not so much your gun parts.
The Hornady Lock N Load Sonic Cleaner is well made and has a built in timer. We just don’t think it is as efficient as it could be. We have had to run our cases several times over the specified number of cycles to get them cleaned the way we saw fit. If you want to give ultrasonics a try, then try this unit out. But if your a serious gun owner with a decent collection, you may want to look at the newer, more efficient ones available today.
